"Makuhari New City" is a convenient 30 minute drive from Narita International Airport, and 30 minute train ride from the center of Tokyo. Besides the Makuhari Messe convention center, which serves as the core institution of "Makuhari New City", leading companies in and outside the country, hotels, commerce facilities, etc. have also been built. Moreover, there is a residential zone (Makuhari Baytown) with an attractive urban design surrounded by water and greenery. The Makuhari International School for kindergarten and elementary school students was opened in April, 2009. Here all subjects except Japanese are taught completely in English.
